Lakeside Pediatrics Masking Policy Update

Posted on May 9th, 2023 to Coronavirus

As COVID infection rates are low and dropping, severity of outcomes is improving, and other infections are seasonally waning, Lakeside Pediatrics will lighten our masking policy.

Patients:

  • Patients and their families or supporters are not required to wear face masks if they do not have a transmissible illness.
  • If a patient or family member has a transmissible illness, they must wear a mask.
    • Examples of symptoms requiring a mask:
      • Cough
      • Runny nose
      • Sore throat
      • Fever
      • Vomiting
  • If a patient and/or family member does not want to be in the presence of unmasked individuals, they are encouraged to call our office from their car, and we will escort them directly into an exam room.

Staff:

  • Staff may choose to be unmasked in non-exam room areas.
  • If a staff member has a transmissible illness, they must wear a mask at all times.
  • For patient visits that are not for transmissible illnesses, such as well checks or problem visits, staff must wear either a surgical mask or an N95 mask into the exam room.
  • For transmissible upper respiratory illness visits, staff are encouraged to wear an N95 mask into the exam room.

We will continue to update this policy according to community illness activity.
