Lakeside Avenue is under construction

Construction activities have begun along Lakeside Avenue west of Pine Street as part of the Champlain Parkway Project.

Crews will be conducting utility work and the full reconstruction of the roadway along Lakeside Avenue between Pine Street and just east of the railroad tracks (near the westerly driveway at the Innovation Center).

This work will be completed under single-lane closures and the full closure of this section of Lakeside Avenue. This work will take place Monday through Friday, predominantly during the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Before and after the closure period, work along Lakeside Avenue will take place under single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic. The full closure will be in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and will last up to six weeks. The closure is anticipated to start on Monday, July 10, at 7:00 a.m. and continue through August.

Throughout the closure period, access and egress will be restricted at the easterly driveway at the Innovation Center. Access to and egress from the Innovation Center will be maintained at the westerly driveway. Vehicular access to Lakeside Avenue west of the closure area will be maintained through a signed detour utilizing Pine Street, Sears Lane, Searsway Lane, a temporary roadway constructed through the existing Hula Parking Lot, and Lakeside Avenue as shown in the detour graphic below. In addition, access to and egress from the Innovation Center will be maintained via Electric Avenue. Throughout the closure period, Electric Avenue will be open to two-way traffic. Temporary traffic signals will be installed at the intersections of Sears Lane at Pine Street and Electric Avenue at Pine Street to assist motorists to and from Pine Street throughout the closure period.
